Is Aimed Shot bugged?
[:1]Or is it really SUPPOSED to be that good, because I love it leveling my hunter and don't want to touch my hunter if it's going to be hotfixed or nerfed shortly after, I don't want to get used to it.

[:1]So i've been doing bgs and the occasional world pvp and i noticed when a hunter bring shis pet out its at 10% i can just 1 shot it if i hit him fast enough. Is this a known bug or what? feels kinda lame that i can take out his pet so easy.
Yeah whenever a pet is summoned it will have it's "base" hp which is like 5k, then it gets updated.

Tooltips! Ohh My!
[:1]Ok, so thats my poor attempt to make a catchy thread title..... Moving right along.
So I was buying, applying and testing my glyphs and I come to the Glyph of Immolation trap, it sounds pretty sweet as the tooltip describes it as "Use: Decreases the duration of the effect from your Immolation Trap by 6 sec., but damage while active is increased by 100%." So i'm thinking sweet, double the damage and faster, sounds like a win to me. Well it doesn't do that, I talked with a GM in game and found that the basic formula for immolation trap damage is
(1885+RAP*.1)*5 Then the glyph changes that formula to (1885+RAP*.2)*3
RAP = Ranged Attack Power
So while the basic formula has a "100%" increase, the overall effect is not that much. An example using my current numbers:
(1885+1215*.1) = 310*5 = 1550 VS (1885+1215*.2) = 620*3 = 1860
To get from 1550 to 1860 is a 20% increase in damage, nowhere near 100%. While I can see the merit of the tooltip, in my opinion for an everyday player whom doesnt crunch these numbers or really think about such numbers while playing a game, the tooltip is misleading as the perception is a doubling of damage and not just a doubling of periodic damage.
So anyways if the needs of the few or the one, can impact the many, then the above is my input.

Also, I wanted to know, If I were to enchant my BoA gear with say, +15/14 agility, will it stay with that gear piece even when it upgrades? ( of course, I will upgrade the enchant later on into the higher levels )
Any tips on how to PvP rotation mess stuff up would be great, 1-85.
AND finally, Hunters need: Agility and hit. I can't think of any others on the top of my head :( Need to know the stats required. Any responds would be great. THANKS :D

Best Hunter Spec/Pet
[:1]Hey guys, just looking for some advice as to specs and pets for low level hunters, I am looking at playing in BGs a good bit, and not 100% sure what to pick. So any advice will be greatly appreciated =D
Low level hunters, like what level? Be specific. I didn't know you could PvP at level 3. BRB making alts?
lol, No, it says I am still 3 but I am about 10 now. Basically anything from the 10-14 brackets to the 30-34 brackets, I should learn by then =p

For solo leveling the cat provides the best dps bonus. If you want to kill something big and ugly a turtle is probably your best bet. For pvp Spiders work quite well (allow you to get an extra aimed shot off).

[:1]so i was looking around, and thought for 10 focus you can use trap launcher with glyphed Immolation trap as MM and get more dps out of it than an arcane shot.
anyone think this could be helpful? or is there something im not thinking of making it kinda pointless. seems to be a better dmg to focus ratio
i forgot immo doesnt crit til i looked at my log again. but yeah the trap is doing more dmg than an arcane shot does on a dummy, idk with raid buffs/debuffs but just wondering what some others thoughts on this is

Haven't Played Since Burning Crusade

As a hunter from BC, I can tell you, it is an entirely different game.

LF Macro Help
[:1]Does anyone have a macro for Chimera Shot that will let me cast Aimed Shot, but will stop casting if I'm casting Steady Shot? I can't get mine to work correctly.

I don't believe such a thing is possible.
Even if it were, I wouldn't recommend such a macro, as it will hinder your DPS.
I don't think macros differentiate between the aimed shot cast bar and the steady shot cast bar. To the macro, /stopcasting would cancel both.

It's for pvp, not pve. I need to be able to hit Steady Shot as fast as soon as Aimed Shot finished and let off Chimera without clipping Aimed Shot from firing.
But I need to be able to spam Steady Shot and fire Chimera Shot as fast as possible.
You are better off messing with your keybinds/ UI

I already completed this quest awhile back on my hunter. I have a bad feeling I'm not going to be in the same phase as this mage so I can tame the bug...

As I was sitting there pouting in the Southern Barrens, I ran across these two noobs doing the quest. Even though the fires were phased out, I was still able to see the bug and I was able to tame it.

[:1]so cancel your subscription. Hunter's are fine PVE apparently; they are not PVP. Yes there are exceptional hunters that will say l2p, but exceptional hunters aren't the majority. I was happy with this patch until I saw the pile today regarding MC and the changes to traps and deterrence. Cancel your account today if you are as frustrated with the rollercoaster that is hunter (or any class). It will likely (hopefully) be more noticed than 500 threads with the title 'master's call'.
Not saying don't reactivate, i likely will. I am however benching my hunter for a bit as it is just far to frustrating having such a high skill cap to just be mediocre.
Maybe rift will be good and i won't have to reactivate - hopefully it will. I enjoy PVP and the hunter class immensely, but not when hunter's are at such a disadvantage in arena in comparison to other classes.

[:1]Master's call was dispellable and 45 secs from day one of the patch .. it was just easier to edit the patch notes than to fix this for us ... i even called they would do it on another thread .. so I am guessing we can expect the exact same thing for aimed shot too .. btw has anyone else noticed their steady shot and cobra shot cast time went way up after this last hotfix too? .. in any case I rather have my one minute back on master's call rather than 45 secs plus dispellable, this just leaves us at the bottom of the barrel next to boomkins and screwed over agn in pvp. We get flashed a bone and instead get kicked in the face when we reach for it gg : /

Ozruk help.......
[:1]So far this is the only boss i am having trouble with in heroics, mostly because of the whole paralize/shatter combo. I am having trouble getting the dot on me to break paralize. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Raptor strike him when he tells you to break yourselves on his body. He shouldn't be moving much at all during the whole fight so I just stand at minimum range and run when the melee does.
Thanks, it seems like its one of those fights, where blizzard isnt taking hunters into consideration, having to dance between melee and ranged the whole fight.

Trinkets of the ilvl359 Variety
[:1]I'm using Essence of the Cyclone and Fluid Death like a good casual hunter raider clone, but I just picked up Prestor's Talisman of Machination.
Now, I know you have "check FD" macro'd to your response button, so just chill for a second. I was actually hoping to ask some of the more experienced hunters (you know who you are, and you're likely banned for ludicrous reasons at the moment) if a re-arrangement of stats through reforging and some other tweaks would push Prestor's in front of one of these other two trinkets.

Last time I checked FD, Prestor's Talisman was a 290 dps upgrade over essence of the cyclone, and even slightly better than the heroic version. I high amount of haste proc lasting 5 seconds longer than the crit proc from essence just scales better, with the internal cooldown on prestor's just being slightly (10 seconds I believe) longer.

I can confirm my own research that wearing the 4pc T11 with Prestor's is the highest I could sim my DPS.
I'm assuming that with the flat reduction in cast time on our regen shot, haste becomes more powerful. Then again, I worry that the results I've simmed are biased around haste plateaus that may, or may not, be replicated in-game.
Either way, I'm going to swap it in and out of my gear set over the next few raid nights to see if there's a comparable DPS change. Unless, of course, anyone else has better information.

Dynamic haste calculations can be a bit iffy when spreadsheeted, EJs goes into detail about that. If it were an on use effect, it would be awesome but as a proc I'm not so sure. I thought having 4pt11 further diminishes the value of haste, except at certain plateaus.
Cyclone stacks really well with haste effects (RF, lust) whereas Prestor's would be wasted. I think the haste trinket could work well on stand still fights (Halfus, Chimaeron) but the crit trinket would work better on most current content. I'd keep Fluid Death either way.
Make sure you set up some kind of notification so you can proactively respond to each proc - and let us know how it goes.

Newb PVP Hunter Question
[:1]I am new to pvp, though ive played a hunter exclusively for about 2 years. In arena's and BG's when i'm engaged with a Shadow Priest, I get hit with some terror effect that causes me to Drop my ranged weapons, and as a result, sit there and do nothing (besides throwing a trap). My question is, what ideas are there to negate this effect, and its crippling effects on my team, (esp in arenas).
Im not certain that the answer isn't some form of weapon chain, but im not certain.
Any advice would be helpful, though im not really looking for "your a newb deal with it, answers".

Make sure you have a Pyrium Weapon Chain on your Weapon that will cut the time in half.. so 5 seconds.. but other then that right now there is nothing else you can do besides wait it out.. In the coming patch we will be able to you Deterrence but we are also getting Nerfed really bad in that patch so eh... I just hate playing my hunter right now since it just makes me think that it will even be worse then it is now..

Make sure you have a Pyrium Weapon Chain on your Weapon that will cut the time in half.. so 5 seconds.. but other then that right now there is nothing else you can do besides wait it out.. In the coming patch we will be able to you Deterrence but we are also getting Nerfed really bad in that patch so eh... I just hate playing my hunter right now since it just makes me think that it will even be worse then it is now..
Hunter DPS on trash
[:1]I know dps isn't important on trash pulls and the single target boss dps is what really counts, but my personal dps takes huge dips when clearing trash especially in dungeons.
And I have to be doing something wrong, I see other hunters when I'm healing on my priest or dpsing on my other classes pulling 13 or 14k on bosses and maintaining 9 and 10 on trash.
I can hold 12k easy on bosses, but when it comes to trash breaking 7k is tough. What am I doing wrong or should do different to maintain my dps on the small pulls between the main events? Oh MM by the way.
Eh, if its a large pull (5+) I will pre-load trap launcher, hit MD and Multi till im out of focus (about 5 times) tossing out a Explo trap about midway. After that I just slip into my single-target rotation and I do fairly well. I can normally maintain 12k+ between bosses, pulling 18k-ish bosses, so yes it is a huge dps loss on trash but you can still do more than enough to feel like you're pulling your weight.
If you still feel bad, you could always swap specs for trash and keep surv as your offspec.
dont aoe if CC is being used
also, try doing your boss rotation on the trash as best you can but if a mob is about to die, dont waist a high focus ability on it

I mean yesterday it seemed alot high, I get out of classes today, get on and run a hero.
My dps seemed to have a shot through it and was dieing on the floor. Anyone else, or am I crazy?
No, it's not you. The shot on it's own merits is terrible now, but mixed in with a variety of other shots, still puts out a steady stream of damage.
