The New Rare Pet

Long and random spawn timers don't seem like the best option for making that ultra-rare pet that everyone wants but almost no one has. What if, instead, we made them difficult to tame. Most people want these pets because almost no one else has them and its a challenge to get them. But what's the challenge in waiting there forever? Is it difficult? Is it hard to wait for an eternity on a mob that may or may not spawn? No. Is it monotanous and mind-numbingly boring? Yes. There's no challenge here to make me feel rewarded when I finally tame the pet. Am I happy I have the pet? Yes, because it looks awesome. But is there another way?
Blizzard has already taken a few steps in a different direction on various rare pets. King Krush was on a ridiculous freaking timer in a myriad of different spots, just like Aotona and Loque'nahak. But he was also Difficult to Tame even when you were Lucky enough to find him. Hunters called in their friends to help with the tame, using fear wards and haste buffs to speed up the cast and avoid interruptions. What if they applied this kind of tactic to rare pets instead? I hunted Nuramoc for over 3 weeks and never even saw him (Sometimes I would roam back and forth for over 12 hours in the netherstorm). I'd prefer it if he was just ridiculously hard to get and not see. Aww look, there's Madexx, too bad I don't know how to get him. Let's work on strategy and see if there's a way to tame him and not accidently kill him.
Design the rare pets more like a raid boss encounter. If you don't do certain things at the right time, you can't tame them. You enter the magic puzzle sequence and he just sits there for the tame cast, or they have to get to a certain low health point and then tame in instant-cast, or you have to go through a series of trials and tribulations to get that pet to spawn but doing it correctly guarantees they are there every time (Like echeyakee or sian-rotam, but more difficult - people who have tamed raid bosses: Chromaggus, MC). You could give them unique boss-like move mechanics that the pet doesn't retain after taming. What do you think?
Sounds cool but Blizzard would NEVER change the mechanics or spawn timer of an existing rare. People who camped for weeks would feel outraged and cheated.
Sounds like pokemon.
Make rare pets like the old elite demons we had to solo to get our level 60 epic bow.

Survival or MM for raids?

My dps output seems to be much higher, however looking on sites, I'm seeing survival doing the most dps in raids? How is this possible and is survival still really best for raids? Thanks.

P.S

On a dummy, I'll range from 9k-13k dps in marksman.
Survival, I go from 7.5k-8.7k
It depends on the fight. On fights like Atramedes and Conclave I go MM and fights like Maloriak or Magmaw that have AoE I go SV for the AoE damage you can do with multishot and explosive traps.
Me and a guildie were assuming it was something like that. So basically just switch inbetween bosses during raids.
i'm having the same issue, but SV is giving more damage. i played with the dummies, and SV gave me about 12k damage, and MM gave me about 9-10. this is even more frustrating, since before the patch, as SV, i was doing 15k+ on the dummies, and 19-20k in raids. now, i am pulling about 14-15k ion raids. it's driving me nuts, and i honestly cant see how MM is supposed to be better, and if it is, what i did wrong on the dummies.
Wow. Yeah MM I pull much more dps, seems we're having the opposite problem. lol. Wish I could do more dps as survival. I may be doing rotations wrong. MM, with the gear I have now, I can do as much if not more dmg than you. But with survival, you're doing WAY more dmg.

((You're opening up with 2x aimed shot when using MM right?))
I'm having the same problem deciding on which spec to go for raids. I always keep my offspec as BM for pvp so i'd love to be able to keep it that way and only use one for raiding. But then i'm torn. I'll be taking both to raid tomorrow but any opinions on which to choose?
Don't compare the specs on dummies. They stay at full health so you always benefit from Careful Aim. Marksmanship gains more from this since you will be using Aimed Shot in your rotation and crits do extra damage from Piercing Shots.

Advice please

Ok so I am reading up on everything I can for hunters and am still somehow missing out on some decent DPS. On average I can do about 13k on bosses, and I need to get that up more. I believe I am gemmed correctly, have reforged properly, and my shot rotation is:

Hunters Mark ->serpent sting -> Black Arrow -> explosive shot - > Cobra shot
Of course i have enough haste to pull off three Cobras before explosive is ready again and with LnL i use exp, cobra, exp, cobra, exp.

Aside from that am I doing anything wrong? Is there something else I should be doing or do I have any stats wrong? Appreciate any help I can get at this point.
I haven't played a whole lot since 4.0.6, so this may be a little out of date, but here's a few things I noticed:

1) I've always put ES as higher priority than BA
2) Your hit is a little low - try for 8% as a missed ES / BA will be a big dps hit.. this should be your #1 reforging priority (still gem agi)
3) You haste is a little high - any haste beyond about 6% (757 rating) is mostly wasted (unless you have 4p T11)
4) Pay attention to cool downs, I like to stack them at the beginning of the fight during the careful aim phase
5) Other than the above, 13k doesn't sound too bad for survival in your gear, but i'd guess you could pull about 15k in a raid (a made up number... just a guess)

Also, keep in mind that MM is doing better than SV right now.

Hope this helps.

Meh, unless your guild has specific guidelines of "each person must pull X dps" I find very little wrong with 13k. It's enough to beat BH timer and several other timers. Healer mana should last about as long if well geared and aware.

Raids are all about mana timers and enrage timers. Beat both of them, and you're set.

spirit bond not working

spirit bond is not working as far as i can see its like i put 2 points into this for nothing no +2% hp per 10 sec
recount says nothing and my combat logs say nothing
dont think the +10% heals works as well anyone else notice this
it works. its passive heals so you won't notice it, and the 10% bonus heals work as well.

test heals with a partner with and without pet up over 1-2 minutes to verify
Alternatively, stay in combat at less than full hp with a mob that cannot hit you (critter, freezing trapped mob, etc), and watch your hp rise.

Ghostcrawler(the pet, not the dev)

What are the conditions to even be able to see this guy? Do I have to have finished Vashj'ir?
i got him without a single quest done in the zone. just flew over there and dove in.

Is the autoshot macro fixed yet?

http://www.warcrafthuntersunion.com/2010/11/cast-auto-shot-bug/

"Zeherah has uncovered a bug with the “Cast !Auto Shot” macro command, and asked me to spread the word. If you’re using this commend in your macros, you should probably take it out until we can verify that the bug has been fixed.

This command is supposed to start your auto-shot if auto-shot is not already active.

Currently if you are using this command, it is actually slowing your rate of auto-shot fire by about 0.1 seconds per shot in observed tests. That means for every ten shots fired, you’re effectively losing an auto-shot, or 10% of you auto-shot dps.

We don’t yet know exactly what this command is doing to slow the auto-attack, and we have not had any testing to see if this problem also exists with melee attacks (while I don’t care about melee attacks, if the problem exists for all those other classes it’ll probably be a higher priority to get it fixed). This bug exists both on live and on the beta.

For the time being just remove this line from your macros to get your correct auto-shot attack times."

Also what is the proper way to set it up with...lets say cobra shot?
help! <3
:(
I haven't tested to see if they fixed it, but you can just use /startattack in your macros instead for now- my tests before showed it wasn't having the same problem.

You would just put /startattack in your macro before your /cast shotname and that'd cause your autoshot to start firing if it wasn't active when you used it.

Thanks so much! You are the best.

I noticed how much dps I was looking on quick target switching fights when cobra was my next shot. A whole cast of no auto attack stinks!
Does anyone know how to write the whole macro with this and the show tool-tip thing.

I have

#showtooltip
/startattack
/cast cobrashot

Is this right?

MM haste goal?

where do i want to aim for haste?
I like your gear.

most important sub stat for new MM?

so right now im thinking that haste might be better for MM mainly to increase our focus regen and for steady shot so we can fire off more aimed shots and proc master mark more often. Im not gonna be reforging crit into haste but what about mastery? thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Best leveling spec?

I have been told by many people in Cata that BM was the best, but I quickly learned that survival was freakin awesome and was so much faster leveling than BM (atleast at the lower levels, 1-60). I am still survival but with the recent nerf of survival and buff of marks, I am tempted to go marks.

Any opinions?

Venomscale Spitter = Non-rare Br Madexx?

I was flying around Uldum today, waiting for my hearthstone to recharge when I noticed something disturbing. South of the Oasis is a common mob called the Venomscale Spitter. Upon closer examination, I realized it's the exact same model is the brown Madexx. Is this new with the patch, or has Madexx's model not been special for a while now?
I just wanted to verify that if you had the BROWN version of Madexx like I did, gratz! You now have a common brown scorpid. If you want a rare skin pet you need to farm Madexx a second time.

This sucks. But they've done it in the past. Humar > Pitch comes to mind. One minute you have a rare and hard to obtain pet and then next you have a common skinned pet.
I think it's a nice step in the right direction. Camping for Madexx blows as hard as a fan thrown into a hurricane.

Edit: And yes, I have tamed a bronze madexx.
Yep its a more attainable model of the Maddex skin for those that dont have the chance to get it. Uldum got quite a few new skinned mobs in it. Allot of other places got some new pet looks too soo go check them out. Some are rares soo u might be waiting about 4 hours for the skin desighn that u want the most. :P

I hope they don't continue the trend with other rare spawns, but that's not what is the concern here. If Blizzard wanted to make the skin more available they should have created a new color of it so those hunters who had been lucky enough to tame a brown Madexx would still have something somewhat unique for doing something that "blows" so hard.

For the record, I have a blue Madexx so while this change does not effect me as an individual, the act in itself is what bothers me.
I have a brown and a black Madexx. While I was initially disappointed in Blizzard's choice to make the brown skin more common, after some thought, I'm fairly pleased that they've done so: after six years, the old scorpion model is quite frankly boring.
Im not to big of a fan of the old scorpion models myself unless the old skin is drasticly alterd on a mob in the futer (possibly a spirit scorpion desighn thats not translucent?). However i do love the black and red maddex i was able to tame awhile back. If u like bugs u should also try for the Green Beetle its a rare, one of a kind and can only be found in Southern barrens its pretty nice.

Tips for beating an enhancement shaman

They have crazy self heal and crazy burst. I can't seem to even touch them half the time.
Deterrance through Wolfs and try and silence when your past 15 yards so they cant "Nova" you with frost shock
Shoot them alot.
Dude.

Glyph.
Yep that 5 second decreased cooldown on Feign Death would totally turn the entire duel around! And thanks Incinerage, and Saralonde for the completely not useless information in regards to beating an enhancement shaman. How could I have not seen that all I needed to beat them were stats?!
Stay out of melee. They can only root you every 15 seconds (and only if you're more than 15 yards away), which means that you can Master's Call 1/3 of those roots. Deterrence, Feign and Frost trap to keep wolves off you.

I see you're BM, so I can't really provide much insight there (I prefer MM for pvp) but Intimidation on CD will greatly annoy them.
We don't have gap-closing powers (beyond root-and-run). You have gap-creating powers. Think about it.
This guy knows his stuff.

LOL

I actually came here for pet info, since I just made a Hunter, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

With the possible exception of Mages, Hunters should be the class with the least to fear from Shaman. Seriously.

In more direct regard to the OP complaint, a lot of our burst depends on wolves (long cooldown) and "crazy self-heals" require both (1) you staying in melee range and (2) the RNG working out in our favor.
2 empty glyph slots
6 unenchanted items
6 x Mystic Amberjewel
Twilight Leg Armor

just run mate, drops traps etc, FD, try to mount and get out of there.

maybe try a DK, warrior, pally or druid. they are better for tanking.

idk i like what this guy said.
Silence then during master's call for one root

Scatter for one

snake trap entrap for one

Use frost trap especially during spirit wolves, deterrence after the wolf bashes

Kill earthbind totem with your pet, otherwise it just cleanses him of all snares when it pulses

eh kite and delete your backpedal key
Kite for you life!!! Seriously get like MAX ranges on them!!!! Use every kiting tool you got!!!!

oh yea and fear the wolves with scare beast
Any post made by the scrub named Saralonde needs to be ignored. he is bad, and if you'd like, you can look up him crying how he can't make pvp work. now he's here giving advice?

without lookin at your gear or glyphs as mentioned are bad. Youre mm, Deterrence, Master's call, Disengage run like hell. Readiness repeat. your turn now to pop your offensive cd's. win move on.

you are missing two glyphs, 6 item enchants, you have 6 resil gems (LMAO) and stamina on pants. the latter is not too bad, but the resil gems are a joke.

Enc Shaman is going to try and stay in your melee range like a mage. i suspect you need to vastly improve your kiting skills.

no #**#? somoene is gonna sit in our dead zone? also yes resil gems are bad. because i mean mail stops so much dmg and we have so much spell absorb. look up glads and stand by that comment plz

lmao at dis shaman - i use Disengage as a "gap-closer" to catch bads like you that run for their life.

Feral Spirit - 30 secs
Bestial Wrath - 10 secs

both 2 min cooldown. bye.

speaking of glyphs, http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/42902 go there and tell me our cd is not shorter? oh and then theres http://www.wowhead.com/spell=53262 sounds like a 2 minute cd to me... get lost scrub

Disengage

I love this talent, but i hate out it reacts to the terrain that you are in as a slope or hill. Also do movement effects on you make you not disengage as far? I know you are suppose to jump and use it but this can be difficult to use in some situations.
You will disengage just as far even if your movement speed is reduced. It can be very good for getting away if you are on a slope combined with engineering parachute (you can clear half the map in WSG/AB/Twin Peaks if used in the right spots)
Jump as you disengage.

Coming back to hunter

I've found myself pretty bored with my priest as of late seeing as all I do is arena. I figured I'd give my old hunter from BC a chance again, and I'm wondering what's a fun leveling spec?
I only remember ever playing mm (sometimes bm)
Also, she's enchanting/mining.
I'll probably change enchanting to something else. Any ideas as to what profession might fit better?

Edit: Also, what does the stat priority look like now? I haven't played since we had mana lulz.

Faction Trinket

I know i've seen an epic Trinket available from a Quartermaster but can not remember/find out which one.
Little help

Fluid Death or Unsolvable Riddle
Thank you both

The Surv Nerf (hasn't affected me)

<span class="underline"/> I got a few new pieces of gear over the course of the last couple days. But even so, with the patch, I find as survival I'm still getting 14-15k dps. On top of that, with an average ilvl of about 342 I was neck and neck in dps with a shadow priest who was an average ilvl of 354 last night.

Point blank, if you know your class, this isn't going to hurt you in survival.
yeah target dummy dps went from 15K to 13.8K ... not as big a hit as I thought it would be :)
14k isn't really anything to brag about. And I think your shadow priest might be bad, ours was doing about 20k in similar gear last night.
At ilvl 342?
My surv damage went down a little not a horrifying amount. The difference being MM went way up giving the illusion to a lot of people that surv was roflstomped. It really wasn't hit that hard.

And yes Spriest are destroying things atm. They usually give me a run for my money. Might force me to actually level mine who is...level 62 and over a year old. LOL
my first instance of cata was heroic stone core and the only reason I got in was because they hadn't changed the mageweave shirts adjusting Ilvl (only got one run in as the hotfixed while we were inside) but I was pulling near 13K there... I don't even remember what ilvl's needed... 329? So it's a "meh" change, as long as the traps and deterrence issues get fixed quickly I'll be happy.

valor purchase question

OK... I don't raid on this toon aside from BH, but that doesn't mean that I don't want to be able to fill in raids with my hunter or max out my DPS for heroics. I've played with femaledwarf.com, and I have a basic understanding of class mechanics. I'm looking for opinions for valor point spending. I currently have about 2300 Valor points, was going to get the Tier legs, then they dropped in BH and I lost the roll :-( So I'm kinda bummed about buying tier pieces with valor, especially if I'm only doing the daily 3-4 times a week and BH once, would take forever to get 2pc. However, I'm also thinking that Fluid death is a waste because I don't really need the hit (I can easily reforge some haste to hit before a raid). So, suggestions - should I buy trinket then cloak, or go for tier first?

(I can also just pick up a DMC:H, but I've been cheap)

Freeze trap on warlock pets

how come it always seems to break instantly, is soul link breaking it?
no i mean when i freeze lock pets it just fades off,

imps can dispel it off other units but regardless not off themselves, demo locks can use demonic empowerment (fel guard) but even that isn't what is breaking them loose

Roar of Sac Macro

Hi,
Does anyone have a macro to cast roar of sacrifice on one's self without deselecting your enemy target?

Or can some tell me how to make a macro re-target the last enemy target after casting it on myself?
#showtooltip
/cast [@player] Roar of Sacrifice
Hurray!

Thanks a ton
np...
Though you might like
#showtooltip
/cast [target=mouseover,exists][@player] Roar of Sacrifice

more

It prioritizes your mouseover so that you can use it on a teammate who's getting pressured.

Hit Cap and Spell hit cap????

I Read all the forums and posts here and on elitest jerks, about Hunter hit cap being 8%.
This is a joke if you just max at 8% , your special shots that no longer use mana, but focus, will have misses on targets. I maxed mine at 17% for spell hit and I no longer have any misses on anything.
Is this the way it is supposed to be or are all the forums wrong?
3rd option, you are wrong.
I don't miss anything, and I'm at juts slightly over 8% hit rating. Short story: You are wrong and should feel bad about yourself. The only time I ever see the 'Miss' text in PvE is on specific fights, like Chimaeron, when I've got the temporary Caustic Slime debuff.
Gotta be a joke. She's got +40 int gems in her gear.
I think we all just got trolled.

No one is that stupid.

Rogert Heinlein once wrote in a book:

"Never underestimate the power of human stupidity".

That was back in the 1950s, friends. Think on that for a bit.

OOOOOOOOOOOOMG 15% hit? really...just really?
And int gems??...this is just as worse as hunters enchating spirit in WOTLK or what I've seen in Cata is hunters with expertise.

Please OP do us a favor and re-read:

Im pretty sure though anywhere in there it doesn't says 15% hit is soft cap and you need to gem int

wow.... you sure you were reading HUNTER forums?!
Actually having 3 +40INT Gems are recommended when you are BM. As it transfers to your pet at about 60%. Your pet requires about +66INT for smart pathing (staying on target when the target moves). As the OP MS is BM this makes sense.

Also the 17% spell hit is ALWAYS desired over 8% physical hit. This has been recommended because ALL pets special attacks are considered spells. Again this is recommended for BM.

The OP may want to gem some strength for his pet, especially if planning to do any pet tanking.
Just kidding, Please reread some of the forums for hunters, or find a hunter in your guild to talk to.

Yes, I kinda feel bad for my earlier post, lol.
Unless things have changed since I played:

Physical damage dealers have 2 hit cap levels:

1. 8% for 2hs
2. 17% for 2 1hs.

Even if you had 1 1hs, your ranged is considered a 2h, so you'd still only need 8% (against +3) while shooting stuff. You'd want 17% if you were a muntard with 2 daggers.
I don't think the int gems are working too well...

11k

Is what I am typically pulling in Heroic Mode 5mans right now, reaching a tad south of 13k during Heroism. I recently came back from a 2 monthish hiatus and I'm sure there is something that can be improved whether it be gemming/reforging or my spec. I know there are a hundred of these kind of posts so any help is greatly appreciated
mastery>crit>haste

pulling between 15-17 k on boss fights, 22-76 k on aoe pulls depending on size of the pull.

survival is no longer the only raid spec, you may want to look into marks now that it doesn't suck if you have not already done so...
I do abput 11k as well with trash...w/ rapid fire against bosses I start off the fight with 15-16k dps which lasts as long as x2 rapid fires do (Readiness).
I just went and steadily pulled 12.5-13k on a Raiding Practice dummy but i'm not sure how indicative that is. As to the matter of haste with 3/3 Pathing with ISS proc I'm at +30.55%. Is that way too high? How much should i reforge to Mastery? Maybella in regards to my rotation Hunter's Mark->Serpent Sting->Chimera Shot->Steady Shotx2->Arcane Shotx2 or a AimS proc
Hmm should be mark, aimed, sting, ISSx2, aimed, chimera, ISSx2, aimed, ISSx2, chimera, repeat.
then as the opponent drops to 74% hp it would be 2-3 arcane instead of the aimed, using aimed procs in the place of an arcane. Thats what I use anyway.

New hunter

Hey yo, So i just it 85 on burning blade. I was looking for some tips.

PS: Feel free to whisper me in game.
Tips? You didn't even bring me a menu.

2 hunters vs h slabhide

So me and another hunter from my guild managed to 2 man slabhide heroic yesterday. After the tank and healer left, the ret pally zoned out and we decided wat the hell. I went BM and pulled out my turtle, he was marks, mend pet was plenty enough to keep him up with the air phases and all. Not too impressive but I was proud :P

BM help?

So, I want to try to figure out how to play BM in case MM gets the nerf bat in 4.1.

I dont know anything about the rotation or what pet I should even have.

Where should I start?

out-of-combat focus regen

Dear Blizz,

please address the out-of-combat focus regen for hunters as it is seriously lacking. It should be increased 200 - 300% the problems of not having enough focus for the next pull for both MM and SV hunters is enormous. These specs do not have an instant focus boost like BM does and this IS a balance issue. So to prevent abuse the only solution should be to allow the out-of-focus regen to occur alot faster then when in combat. Right now the regen is just as slow as in combat. Surely when hunters rest in between battles their regen should increase.

As far as i can tell, spirit in combat does not help a hunters regen of focus, it is only affected by haste. Using ones haste abilities in between mobs as MM and SV is basically a huge dps nerf so no one should ever do it.

PLEASE consider this as the fix for this issue. As a comparison, Rogues regen is fast enough to cope with jumping to the next mob right off the bat without the need to have an instant energy pop, i would ask the same be done for hunters but the mechanics for hunters abilities are completely different. So the next best thing to ask for is faster out-of-combat focus regen of 200 - 300% more to be ready for the next pull. If it were still mana for hunters they'd be able to drink.

Thanks

I believe the 2 talents in MM (Rapid Killing and Rapid Recuperation) give you 50 focus when you kill an XP/honor worthy target - which is the amount as BM's fervor minus the 2 minute CD. The only tree I see that doesn't have something like that is SV.
I usually start casting Cobra Shot right before the tank pulls a mob if I need the focus.
his idea is solid. stop offering alternative solutions. We should be able to regen focus easily like a rogue.

rerolling alliance, best PVP race?

ya so im going alliance, just wondering what best race for PVP ONLY is? i see good benefits for all.. double dmg/resi trinket as human, target drop as NE, stoneform and +1% crit with guns (though i have vicious glad bow), even the worgen sprint would be nice. scoured the internet and couldn't find anything, help! thx, no trolls plz
Female dwarf FTW
really though?
I would go with Worgen.
please give good reasoning, or cite a source or something... someone lol, one has to be superior to the rest im just having trouble balancing the pros vs the cons with them
pvp, I would go with a Human or NE for the racials. Though dwarf wouldn't be too bad either for the 10% damage reduction.
Just wondering- why are you going with the bow instead of the gun as a dwarf? Purely for looks?
For min maxing it is worgen - 1% crit with all weapons + sprint makes them the current top race.

If you want the greatest race you will go dwarf and be please.
bump

looking for somone who can explain... atm i think dwarf may be best choice
Ok, I am ONLY going to list the Racials that apply to Hunter and Combat With an emphasis on PvP. With a comment after each Race on their abilities. Please note I got all my info from the Wiki.

Dreanei
Gift of the Naaru: Heals Target for 20% of their Health, for 3 seconds, 40 yard range, 3 min cooldown.
Shadow Resistance: +1 point of Resistance to Shadow based spells/abilities per level
Heroic Presence: +1% to hit with all spells and attacks.

+1% Hit bonus, PvP ranged we need 5% hit against all races except those like Night elves where we need 7%. This reduces our hit needed at lvl 85 by about 120, this is a 120 rating that can go to Crit/Mastery/Haste instead of being needed for Hit.
+1 to Shadow Resistance, good against Shadow Priests, Warlocks, Death Knights, Survival Hunters (Black Arrow).

Dwarf

Frost Resistance: +1 point of Resistance to Frost based spells/abilities per level
Gun Specialization: +1% Crit with all guns
Stoneform: 2 min cooldown Removes all poison, disease and bleed effects and reduces all damage taken by 10% for 8 sec.

Frost resistance Vs those damn Frost mages
+1% Crit with guns some very nice PvP guns out there
Our only available Dot Scrub (for certain dots).

Gnome:
    Kickball!

Good for kickball games. If you have a spikey one let someone else kick the ball for you.

Human
Every Man for Himself: 2 min cooldown, Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character. This effect shares a cooldown with other similar effects.
Sword Specialization: +3% Expertise with Sword (2h or 1h)

An extra Trinket is never a bad thing.
If you use raptor+Wingclip+Disengage type macro's in PvP, nice to be able too hit. Dual wielding is not so bad with this. However most of our two handers have better stats then wielding two swords.

Night Elf:
Nature Resistance: +1 point of Resistance to Nature based spells/abilities per level
Quickness: -2% chance to be hit by melee or ranged
Shadowmeld: 2 min cooldown, Stealth, lasts until canceled or upon moving. Threat is restored versus enemies still in combat upon cancellation of this effect. You pet being in combat will keep you in combat. generally use is dismiss Pet then Shadowmeld to remove threat.
Wisp Spirit: Transform into a wisp upon death, increasing speed by 75%.

Nature Resist: Druids, Rogues (poisons), etc..
Quickness a 7% to be hit vs everyone elses 5%
Shadowmeld nice surprise ability, does need some set up. Can be an escape mechanism if you can get out of LoS of someone and they are idiots. Most good PvPer's know they just need to run aroudn the area they saw you disapear too to find you. Cannot do anything else in it. Will allow camping of bases/flags with an opener.
Wisp surpising how much the ability to get back to your body fast and suddenly pop into battle can be of a help to your teammates. Especially if that Dot class is still near death and you can one or two shot him before he ganks you again. As all of your abilities will be up and off cooldown.

Worgen:
Aberration: Increases your resistance to harmful Nature and Shadow effects by +1 per level. This is the Dreanai and Night Elf Bonus's combined.
Darkflight: 3min cooldown, Activates your true form, increasing current movement speed by an additional 40% for 10 sec.
    Flayer: +15 to Skinning skill
Running Wild: 1.5 sec cast Movement increase, based on level
    Viciousness: +1% to Crit.

+1% to crit is better then Dwarfs gun only Crit %
Resistance to shadow AND nature, better then Dreanei and Night elfs.
Unmounted, Movement based abilities should not be discounted in any BG, arena or World PvP. Easier to spot someone on a horse running across a battle field even if they are going through bushes then someone running along the ground on all fours.
Especially when coupled with terrain + camo <Darkflight>.
+15 to Skinning means you get the Crit Bonuses from skinning a little faster while leveling up. Once you get high enough level to hit 525 though, as an advantage it goes away.

I am going to break this up into a second post as its going to be really to long.
Over all I am inclined to think that Worgen will be top dogs for Alliance PvP.

For camparison purposes:
Dreanei vs WorgenHit vs Crit
Since 1% Crit = 179.29 crit rating Vs the Dreanei 1% hit = 120.19 hit rating.
So to equal the Dreanei 1% Hit a Worgen needs to reforge 120.19 hit.
For the Dreanei to Equal the Worgens Crit, then 170.29 Crit rating needs to be reforged.
Rounded up 171 vs 121 in secondary stats.

next Dreanei has heals vs Worgens movement and extra resistance.

I think Worgen wins by a wide margin

Dwarf Vs Worgen
1% Gun only Crit+Stoneform+Frost vs 1% Crit+Movement+Nature/Shadow

Tough one
1pt Worgen as Worgen Crit is better then Dwarf Crit.
0.5 pt Worgen as 1 Resist vs two resist, but that one resist is frost (I hate frost mages)
1pt Dwarf stone form vs movement. Ill go with a armor increase and a semi dot scrub. An argument could be made that the resists of shadow/nature take up about 2/3rds of the dots we run into. But its PvP and most people run with spell Pen of some sort.

So Worgen by .5pts

Night elf vs WorgenQuickness translates as everyone needs 2% more hit (Other hunters this is 240.38 Hit) to hit you consistantly. 1% crit 171. On paper a win to night elves. But reality not so sure. Ill give 0.25pts to night elves. Mainly becuase many seem to go people are gonna go with 7% hit anyway.

Stealth vs Movement, can call this either way. Do you like camping or do you like to run away (OR charge into the face of the enemy) Note the stealth bonus's I think does apply to camo when standing still. +.5pts to your preference. These abilites do not apply directly to damage and are highly situational with long cool downs.

Nature resistance vs Shadow AND nature resistance. Yeah, ill go with Worgen 0.5pts (Again most players will have spell pen anyway)

Worgen by 0.25-0.75pts
or Night elf by .25 pts depending on your style of playing. Me I am biased and enjoy the stealth aspect since I solo a lot on a horde crowded server.

Human vs Worgen
Trinket Vs Movement+Crit+Resistances

Yeah: Worgen

Note I did not compare each of the races to each other only too Worgen.

Now if you were to ask me about Raiding?

Worgen, none other comes even close in alliance.

What stats are best for me in PvP?

Hi guys, I currently am dual specced survival and BM. I know that we have many problems as a class right now, but i still usually find PvP very enjoyable.

I do 2s as BM (hovering around 1k rating, as the team has only been going for a couple weeks) and battleground as SV, because in a bg it is far too easy to loose control of your pet somehow and get curbstomped.

I have heard that hit is the best hunter stat in PvE hands down before you cap it, but what about PvP? Is the hit cap against other players lower than the 8% required for PvE? and after that, what stats should I be stacking? Besides resilience, of course. Also, should I use the same stats for both SV and BM?

I was also wondering what would be more useful in arenas; my devilsaur or chimera.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!
Doesn't haste also affect focus regen somewhat? Or was I misinformed.
SV is a dead spec in PVE and PVP, don't bother. Change that to Marks.
Go marks, get hit capped, reforge for crit gem for agi.
I'd rather not go marks, I only do Random Bgs as Survival so it doesn't really matter too much.

Thanks for all the stat info though.

Mastery - Hard Cap for Pet DMG?

One thing I'm uncertain of is if their is a cap on mastery impacting the % increase with pet damage?
There's no cap. But there does come a point where it's not worth trading in other stats to get your pet's damage higher. Your hunter loses more dps than the pet is gaining.

edit: I throw that out the window though for my questing/soloing gear set and actually try to get more mastery.
In PvP, mastery seems to stop being worth it around 20%.

Pet Health Bug

Am i the only on having issues when my pet is summoned or reappears, they sit at 5000/5000HP then 5 seconds later go to regular health? Im getting really annoyed because i dismount, attack a mob, and my pet gets 1-shot when i attack a mob. This really needs to get fixed
your not the only one, sometimes is best to try to cast Mend Pet as soon as u dismount sometimes that might help

Is survival viable for pvp?

why or why not?

Hunter pet damage and range damage not normal

Ok so i PVP alot so i got all agi enchants on my armor i have the epic Warlods set for the hunter with the high warlords street sweeper and it says my damage is 426-567 or some such and i only deal about 308-380 damge which is a little messed up to me i think along with my hunter i have a lvl 60 ravager that is supposed to deal 200-375damage and only deals 127's? can someone help me fixing this ?
Physical damage done by pets and auto-shot is mitigated by the target's armor so it will be less than on the character sheet.

Ok thanks man that confused me hah
this whole thread was cute

Awsome new Tames! :P

Soo the new glowing eyed skin cat available in northern stranglethorn is amazing looking. I love it already :P. Also i never was a huge fan of the wasp but this new Black model i got in Silithid is pretty nice too. Going for Olm the Wise next
I grabbed the pretty yellow and purple dragonhawks that are now in zul aman....
so glad i don't have to look at my ugly green wind serpent anymore :)
and u know there going to add some kind of new spirit beast in every raid patch..... they really need to give us more stable slots >.> lol
wow, olm the wise looks pretty cool, nice vanity pet for afk'ing in org...gonna have to tame that later.
Might look into that pretty blue and green ravager that's now tame-able too.

That cat w/ glowing eyes is pretty cool but I still prefer my white skinned lion (siam-rotan)
I have had Olm since TBC when I was leveling this guy and stopped. He does look pretty cool as spectral.
anybody have a link that shows these new hunter tames?
http://www.wow-petopia.com/guides/latest.html
ty =p
So uh hey remember me Mew? You tried to kill me as I was afk for the pet. Well guess who just got it. Boom baby! =P I was actually reading your post as you were shooting at me. I don't usually kill other hunter who are camping for pets, to me that seems kinda low. But thanks for letting me know your free game now. Hope to see you in some BGs soon with my pretty little pet. ;)
Yeah but u werent taming any pets at the time. and u were pretty close to dying lol if u were just a little closer for my pet to nab. Anyways be thankfull im not one of those jackasses who like to kill ppls tame lol. u know the bird seems good but im liking what the wasp i got does allot more in pvp atm. He is stomping rogues if i play my cooldowns and attacks right. And grats on ur tame :D. Im not a mind reader who knew u were distracted by my post lol. Its good ppl from my server will read my stuff though.

Which valor piece to get first?

look my armory
femaledwarf.com
trinket every time
What about after the trinket? Right now, I dps in 4 piece Bloodthirsty. It's simply better than any JP gear I can get (actually the Vicious pieces have some better stats than the valor pieces plus the bonuses) and BH hasn't been kind to me as far as the gloves and legs are concerned.
Fluid death for sure, next most popular piece hunters get is viewless wings cloak (probably my next choice).
I wouldn't get viewless wings.

There is an equivalent world drop, which is probably reasonably-priced in your auction house, as well as a crit/mastery cloak off maloriak, who is easy to kill.

Fluid death --->tier loots

also that's a pretty good guild name
Personally, I went for Fluid Death first... because I felt good hunter trinkets were harder to come by than any other gear. And by the time I had enough for the tier gloves, I had gotten raid-equivalent gear for the appropriate slots so I bought Viewless Wings.

Since then I've just been accumulating VP. My next purchase is most likely the ring if I don't get one during this week's raid (lost a bid to one of my hunter guildies for an epic ring drop in raid last week).
if your looking for the biggest dps gain, use Femaledwarf.com

PVP, DW or 2h?

What is better for PVP?
To Dual Wield or to use a 2H and why?

I am looking to see what conquest weapons to purchase soon.
DW until 4.0.6 so you can deterrence while disarmed (note this doesn't work for some disarms).

When 4.0.6 hits you will be able to deterrence no matter what (cept when youa re stunned of course), so DW provides no benefit. At that point it would be best to go with a stat stick like Vicious Gladiator's Pike.

TBH, you would be best simply going for the stat stick right now, since the patch is coming fairly soon and you don't want to waste a bunch of points on two items to DW that you may never use again.

Which MM spec ?

7/31/3 or 8/31/2 And is Marked for Death a waste?
Here's my biggest question Marks or Survival for PVP?
Anyone?
Marks
Find a person on the forums with lots of raid epics or pvp epics and click their avatar then check out their spec...
MM for pvp.

Good trinkets for Sv or MM

I plan to use both specs and was wondering what are good Heroic dungeon trinkets that i could get, and can anyone remind me of stat priority again ^>^
tias grace, any agil trinket really.

http://www.warcrafthuntersunion.com
Key to the Endless Chamber is really nice, drops off Corborus in Stonecore.

Tired of playing a broken Class

I play a Hunter and a holy pally and I gota say its alot harder to play a Hunter. We were so gimped before the patch that it wasent even viable to think about playing your hunter in pvp. So whats Blizz do they add Dammage on the PTR instead of trying to fix the broken Mechanics of the Hunter Class. If all of the patch notes on the PTR went live and worked properly we would of at least been viable. But people QQ. IMO we are a dead stick in the water again with this Nerf to masters call being 45 sec and making it dispellable. Id Rather see the old 1 min CD back and not being able to have it dispelled. And what happend to being able to Detterence in a disarm?????Why are 3 out of 5 of my Traps either being resissted or not going off at all. Glad i spent the points on my 2 hander only to get screwed over by Blizz again. Its honestly come to the point where its not even fun to play this game. I think Self heals were the worse thing introduced in this game. Someone high up on the Dev Team should fire everyone below him and hire people who acutally understand the mechanics of the game and the classes. Because it Feels like these people are just Extremely lazy. I wont be renewing my account at the end of the month.

Survival or Marks?

My MS is already BM, anyone care to explain which spec I should have for my second slot? Thanks! :) PvE.
Go SV with serpent spread just so you can use it for AOE fights.
Last I checked, Surv has an edge on MM, especially after the MM nerfs. I've also found Surv to carry a lot more utility overall, although I do miss Aimed Shot at times.

YMMV. I say play what you enjoy. They are close enough to not matter much.
I personally love SV. It is so much fun. I heard you now get a slightly better single target DPS with MM, but I haven't tried it since I moved to SV around level 40 or so. And as Aeriel said, serpent spread has some great AOE.
I'd suggest you try both MM and SV for about a week each.

After some PvE and PvP with each, you'll probably have a favorite.

Personally, I'm a SV fanboy. Leveled SV and (outside of a brief period of MM PvE during late Wrath) have been specced SV/SV ever since.
SV. More fluidity, more CC, more fun.
what level is your hunter? is he raiding? MM is still top dog for raiding, surv is better on large aoe packs. But if you are intent on keeping BM, I would prob go MM as the second talent, unless you are not doing progressive content and you dont min max then surv is fun to play.

Last I seen its goes MM/BM/surv the exception being aoe, and with the upcoming change to multi that may even out.
Deleted by Zindara
MM will probably overtake SV in all regards of single target and aoe what with 195% weapon damage on Multi-shot, the MS cd going from 1.5 to 1 sec, and the Talent Bombardment.

Unlike SV where you have to weave in a cobra every MS or so to maintain aoe from range, RF + readiness will keep you fps stoked with MS for several seconds.
I never left Survival, and I still put up huge numbers. I'd stick with it, as I find it more enjoyable.
Marks for single target

SV for AOE intensive fights.
mm you will find your self at the top of dmg meters first 20% but then you will fall

and fall

and fall

and see the sv hunter at the top

Go SV.

BM is great single target, but lacking in AoE, which is where SV comes in strong.
alot of survival fans and thats all good. I have always been a MM guy since vanilla and where SV will overtake MM doing all those, trash mobs a MM hunter will put out more dps on boss fights in several situations...i havent been able to confirm this though as I havent gone with a SV in party yet.

However I do believe that for the guild I'm in the hunters that raid go SV which I would imagine is for the utility aspect. MM tends to be a fixed turret class which can also cause problems in fights and your dps drops down because of it.

So I'd recommend picking whatever fits better for u....I favor MM others favor SV...they both have advantages and disadvantages.
I have both MM and Surv. If it is a heavy movement fight or an aoe fight surv wins. If it is single target MM wins. Either though is viable for any raid. Since you are dead set on BM as your primary spec I would say go MM as BM is adequate for movement fights and AoE fights, then you can fall back on the MM spec for low movement turretting.

Equivalently geared surv hunters compared to me on average do about 2k less dps on stand and pound fights, where in high movement fights I am generally 2k below them, so what I am trying to say is play the one that fits your playstyle better and not what is the FotM for hunters.
MM for single target, SV for fights with AOE.

Or if you're a bad player just stick with SV, its really easy to play, just like BM.
I go SV for the Hunting Party buff, since i'm a team player ;)
I'm SV now after being MM for most of my 4+ years on WoW. MM now with hardcasting AiS is not the same MM I knew. High single target dps aside, i find it clunky, boring and not fun to play (and no it's not that difficult, just mind numbingly boring). SV flows nicely and has more utility. I raid 10 man only and it provides a needed buff as well. Try both, play what you like, but I'd leave BM for questing, PVP, screwing around or whatever...It has not in recent history, nor is it now (imo) a viable raiding spec.
There was a time when BM was viable for raids(some point in BC), and i have had better dps not hard casting aimed except at the beginning of a fight when the boss is above 80% which is usually when i pop my 1st rapid fire. Though I do agree that MM is a bit like a turret spec at times u can still bring the deeps its just not as easy to play as SV for most.

Serve restart and Loque

Ok, Question is does loque'nahaks timer restart during maintenance or does it still continue from the timer it was left with prior to serve restart?
totally random when it spawns and its 6-12 hours respawn after it is killed / tamed. just know that all 3 sholazar basin rares do not share timers and can all be up at once though.
Alrighty I see, ty for info.
Good luck!! Ur gonna need it :P

lol Bugs.

We has some, and they be bitin' me in bed.

When Should I Expect To See

When should I expect to see big numbers on BM?

As you can see my gear isnt the best..I still need several pieces from at least 5 heroics and reputation. That being said my ilvl is probably 337 or so.

As MM I average on the whole mayve 12k DPS but as BM maybe 10k. However on some fights I will cap out leaps and bounds as MM over BM, but I read a thread saying they were very close. I like both specs, but BM is definately my favorite, dating back to BC when I made this toon and lvled as BM. I want to know if I should expect to be pulling ripper DPS (16k+) ever as BM. If no, then on easier, less strenuous fights BM and when its serious time MM.

Just hoping to see if I can look forward to being on par or at least decent competition with Surv and MM.

Thanks!
theyre not very close... u may have read me writing at some stage saying that BM was very close to SV now... in that theyre both a fair way behind

which ring to replace

check my armory
which ring should I replace with: http://www.wowhead.com/item=62362

really 3 days in a row? delete your hunter if oyu can't figure it out or learn how to use female dwarf...
There's no way to tell which to replace without knowing what you're replacing it with. If you replace the +hit ring, make sure you're still hit capped. If you replace the other ring, make sure to reforge properly. Seriously though, learn to use femaledwarf.com, it solves all sorts of these stupid questions.

How do i shot?

I find hunters to be terribly boring early game but they seem to be a pretty entertaining class late game. I even managed to level both a warlock and a rogue to 85 (both of which are really boring/annoying classes to level) but I still can't bring myself to leveling my hunter anywhere past 30... I was hoping there may be some tips for fun specs to level or maybe what level range the "light at the end of the tunnel" is where it actually becomes fun to play hunter.

So I ask you ladies and gentlemen again: How do i shot?
Play without a pet and kite your way to 85.
Crazy fun, imo.

>>
silly DK, lvling is not there to be entertaining, its there so it takes you longer to actually start playing the game. Making Bliz richer.

This made me giggle.

Found this little gem on http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/class/hunter

"With the ability to wield two weapons simultaneously, hunters can unleash a flurry of blows against anyone unfortunate enough to stumble into close combat with them."

This sounds like fun, if it really existed.
RAPTOR STRIKE!

Someone needs to change that. It'd be more accurate to say 'with the ability to wield melee weapons, hunters will get torn apart in melee by true melee classes'

I was close enough. We die to everything in melee, but we die even faster to melee classes. Especially since we lack a lot of options in melee outside of dropping a trap and disengaging.

Hunter set focus on pet

If I set focus on my pet and then mount up on anything, when I dismount I have to reset focus. This is a real bother, especially in immediate close encounter situations. Please consider making the set focus stick until changed manually or pet dies such as for warlock pets with soul link. Thank you.
You want the General Forums. Developers, who could implement this change, do NOT read this forum.
Why do you need to focus your pet? There's a target=pet or @pet you can use in macros instead.

For instance, here's my hunter's Misdirect macro:

#showtooltip Misdirection
/clearfocus [btn:2]
/stopmacro [btn:2]
/focus [help]
/cast [target=focus,exists,nodead] [target=pet,exists,nodead] Misdirection

With this sort of setup, you don't need to constantly waste time setting focus to your pet. It will automatically use your pet as the target if you don't have a focus. So in instances you can target the tank and hit it the first time to set focus and cast it, but solo it'll auto-cast on the pet.
Thank you both for your help and especially for the macro, Feylan. I will set that up and hopefully it will solve this issue. Thanks again.

Dont Nerf Aimed Shot!!!

Ok so, Blizzard Shouldn't nerf Aimed shot because of low levels complaining about it that its OP.

All classes at low levels have they're strategy for being most powerful and killing their enemy as fast as possible. All classes at lower levels are just about "OP" so seriously stop complaining about it.

The Aimed shot does a fair amount of damage because at lower levels it takes 3 seconds to cast. It's not like its a 1 second cast or like its instant. If it were then yes i can see why it would be OP.

But for low levels there are ways to counter the aimed shot fairly easily.

1. Get out of LoS, its pretty easy to do it all you have to do is run behind something.

2. Just get within meele range of the hunter or run behind the hunter. By doing this the hunter cant use his ranged weapons.

3. Stun the hunter, By doing this you have free time to attack him.

4. Lastly just kill him before he gets the shot off. You have 3 Seconds + to get the hunter dead before he can possibly kill you because aimed shot doesn't 1 shot you, the hunter has to add a couple other attacks before or after the aimed shot.

So stop complaining that it's OP and should be nerfed because all classes at low levels are OP, and if one class gets nerfed its a chain reaction. The class that gets nerfed gets mad and makes a forum to nerf another class that was just as OP. Then your class gets nerfed.

So seriously just stop complaining about it.

I even gave you a list of options to counter Aimed Shot....
bleh!
bleh!

Meaning dont nerf or nerf.
I hope it means dont nerf because you are a hunter lol.
It is not b/c of lower levels, I repeat it is NOT because of lower levels (1-84). What is with ppl coming up with this crap? The current dmg of AiS is causing MM hunters to ignore other shots. It created a very clunky & sluggish rotation that has us only casting CS to refresh SrS sub 80%. Some completely ignore all other shots during the CA (80-100% hp) and just spam AiS & SS. It's pretty obvious it's not the kind of rotation the devs intended.

edit: let me translate the "bleh" for you..

"is this guy serious???"
NO Nerf, No nerf for Hunters. They already suck at PvP give them a buff if anything
bleh as in they arent nerfing it because of low levels. They're nerfing it because right now it does so much damage it's the pinnacle of MM dps. That isn't intended.
Hunters ignore other shots because of other specs. This isn't anything new.

And if you think we only use ChS to refresh SS, you're overlooking the fact that ChS does a significant amount of damage for its cast time (instant) as opposed to casting a 2.9 (base) spell that may or may not crit.

I was talking about ignoring the shots for a spec itself. As for CS only for freshing SrS (SS = steady shot btw), I've been reading EJ among other things & seeing some hunters ignoring both all together during the CA phase and I don't think I've seen one who doesn't just use CS when SrS is about to fall off (when SrS has around 3 sec left) & not on CD. Granted the jury is still out.

Hunter Professions

I've heard skinning is good for crit purposes... but what are the best professions for a hunter?

Hunter trinkets

Which ones are the best or which ones do you prefer?
http://wow.joystiq.com/2011/01/24/scattered-shots-cataclysm-hunter-trinkets/

Hit can be reforged FTW!
Appreciate that link, it helps alot :)

What valor should I buy first ?

(Yes, I know I lack some gems/enchants, working on this too)
Normally I'd always say Fluid Death is the best purchase if you want to PvE beyond Heroic 5 mans. But you are swimming in hit, have a weird spec, need to reforge your gear and don't have talent specs for either of the two dps pets you have.

Though you have a ton of items that can be reforged to crit. So getting Fluid Death is still likely your best bet.
I'm pretty sure my Wolf have talents specs....

My other dps toons, they are nostalgia pets-they are all nammed, not very subtly, about retribution-they are from pre-CATA Southsore.
I think the best question here is what do you want to do with your hunter? You trying to PvP (using dazzled glyph), PvE 5 mans, raid?

Just wondering if anyone noticed this.

The Tier 11 Hunter Helm has different colors done on it as a Male Troll.

The eyes are green, and the fins are blue on troll males, but it's reversed on everyone else. I'm just wondering if this has been reported as a minor bug in graphics. (I just noticed it)

Resistence is futile

Underrated? Procs often, my monkey montgomery just crit for 10k on a rogue with it and its "free"

Very nice to use when a shot lands both hit at the same time for slight burst its neat

is also bugged, while the buff is active it forces you to stand, can't eat

Need a little assistance on what to buy

So i now have about 1700 valor points, and am in the range of buying my 1st item. My initial thought was to get 2 piece t11, so grab the chest immediately when i get 2200 valor points.

However, the 2 piece bonus is absolutely awful. So now i am thinking grab the trinket fluid death, as it replaces my figurine trinket and greatly improves my dps for a lesser cost.

I guess, in short, im lost as to what the best way to approach this is. I used femaledwarf, and the t11 chest and trinket give me the most dps gain, with the trinket being more bang for the buck. Is this what most do with first purchase is grab trinket?
2 piece is pretty blah. Your ultimate goal is 4 piece.

Fluid death is an amazing trinket. Personally, if you have a way to get 4 piece quickly (does your guild down cho'gall and nef on a regular basis?) then start going for that. Though do some femaledwarfing to find out which offset piece would be the best. Previously the chest was showing to be the offpiece, with maloriak's chest in its place. But that means you need the helm and shoulders from end bosses. No clue where your guild is at in regards to those.

4 piece PVP (vicious) is relatively easy to get and is still a strong 4 piece. This is just me, but I would get the trinket and work on the vicious set while you build up your T11. Again, that is just me. You do what is best for you.

The trinket was definitely my first purchase, it only has a few sec ramp up time, and 380 agi is noticeable. After that, just start getting the tier pieces that give you the biggest upgrade.
Normally I'd advise going for set bonuses before off-pieces, but in this case, the set is only worth it once you have 4 pieces, and in order to get 4 pieces you need access to Cho'Gall and Nefarion, the right tokens to drop and win the roll/dkp against any warriors/shamans.

The trinket is lovely. The ramp up is so quick you don't notice it. I haven't checked out your current gear but take whichever is the bigger upgrade. I went for the chest first since I already had cyclone/tia's grace and then the trinket next.

I can't decide if to get the 2 piece next, or VP boots to sell. Depends how I end up speccing post patch.

How can I kill a Healer with a Pillar ?

Guys how do you kill a healer with a pillar in the middle ?

I so easy to avoid our atacks and hide behind the pillar, we have no heal at all .. and every damage we take persists all the match.

We can't run after the healer because we don´t have close distance atacks.

So how can I resolve this puzzle ??
it is usually fun to run around behind them and set traps on each side of the pillar :)
Eventually they will run around the pillar again and right over your traps

BTW...I went 26 minutes 1v1 with a holy pally in an arena this week...I never managed to kill him but it was a fun time at least! Lowest I got him was 30% health and 4% mana...he popped back to full health
How can I kill a Healer with a Pillar?

Drop it on him.
I think i will be a good change in arenas, we can destroy or change the cenario.

Like push a button and the Pillars drop on the healers head!
Place traps down on the pillar so when they run around it triggers. I'm just doing 2s atm and found kill command is very handy when they los you.
You can't. Only with the help of a partner, you might be able to.

Sadly that is what you live with as a hunter. A few ways to help you would be:

If MM spec'd have Entrapment, put trap down and once he runs overs it he will be stuck, you can get 2 shots off on him, but sadly i'm sure you won't be a huge threat to him as he slowly runs around again and the internal entrapment CD kicks in.

Have a pet like a crab that can "pinch" your target in place for 4 seconds or slow them between the traps to allow you to get more shots.

Ask your arena partner to hoj/stun/fear etc so you can get some hits in.

That's all you can do really, i'm sure you won't really be much threat to him when you do hit him so I would suggest you cc healer and try to kill DPS.

Good luck!
Put down a few traps, put your pet on aggressive, and go grab some popcorn and enjoy the show. <g>

I just chased a resto druid around Blade's edge arena for about 13 minutes. I had a resto shaman partner still alive.

Both the shaman and myself were spamming purge/dispell, and i was throwing every snare/slow(conc shot on CD practically) i had on him. His mana never dropped below 80% and i was outplaying him constantly.

He was so bad that i finally scored a kill on him when he decide to leave his pillars but he never once dropped below 80% mana and never once had to use innervate.

gratz, the worst fight i had is like 30mins pillar run and ended with a draw.
I try to use my healer as bait for 2s and stay LoS of the others healer while still being far enough away from the other dps. With this you have to know when to use silence on the Dps or healer depending on the situation.

Hunters are pretty weak but....

Anyone else out there like the fact that we aren't FotM? Anyone else enjoy that hitting ratings on a hunter pretty much means you could be god mode on any other class. Call me a masochist but that is part of the reason I came back to it after switching Shaman in WotLK.

I like how hard it is. What I don't like is I can't find teams other than my friend's alt alts....

Master's Call,Explosive Trap new spelleffect?

I read on the patch notes that these will have a new spell effect. Can anyone on the PTR tell me what they are?

What do BM PvP hunters gem for?

^TitleSaysItAll^
Agility, and 2ndary stat should be crit or mastery depending on preference.
Also you should have 190-200 spell pen.
I go for 220 Spell pen (3 50 gems (blue slots) + 70 cape enchant)

Agility in red sockets

and Agility/mastery in Yellow sockets

I find the extra damage on KC useful for when people like to LoS or get out of range.
concur -

spell pene for arcane shot/pet dmg/poison
agility for crit/ap
secondary stat is usually player specific, can be mastery, crit, haste.

Make sure for pvp you are hit capped, spell pene capped, and resilient enough

ghost wolf

hey had a grimtotem ghost wolf while back had it stabled and its been gone for a while now remember you cant tame them anymore but those who had it they said you can keep it but mines gone >< i know theres now way to get it back but curious did they wipe pets at one point when changing trees? and just deleted it or i remember one time i had to go get my cat again but wasnt sure.

just curious
Nah they dont wipe stables. Dunno why it would be gone.
You can put in a GM ticket and request for a pet restoration. You may or may not get it back, but several other hunters have had pets returned this way.

I can't think of why one of your pets would mysteriously up and disappear like that outside of a glitch. I once had a stable glitch that ate a gorilla pet of mine. He returned on his own after logging out and back in. Just a random weird thing.
I forget which patch it was but a recent one caused many pets to just vanish. This included warlock pets [most noticeable with locks that had demons with names they liked].
I had most of my pets taken away and they'venever come back. Itzcoatl, my wind serpent, Stephen Jr, my eagle, my Ironjaw wolf Kavik. . . neverto be seen again.

It's not a big deal to retame them for me though, so I just went and did that.

orc or tauren?

best animations and looks :D im leaning toward tauren but orc racials look nice
Of course I like my tauren and he's been my main since vanilla. The Orc racials, some will argue don't make THAT big of a difference. But I think you may have answered your own question.

Although I like the Tauren animation and think they look great as a hunter, the Orc racials make that argument obsolete.

Starting a new hunter, go with orc...
Dps wise

Troll>orc>goblin>be>tauren,undead

Animation wise

Tauren>goblin. all the rest who cares lol

PVP question (talents)

Hi
Id like to know which spec is more viable to pvp with a hunter?
Im surv atm and I like it, but would MM be better?
I heard the talent Sic em is great and I have it on my pve spec ,but but how good is it in pvp? Im assuming pet can be easily killed and is not always hitting a target.
Any help or thoughts is appreciated.

Auto-shot on right-click needs to go.

plz bring back the option to disable it. that was a terrible idea to get rid of it.
You can unbind the key....

Are you trying to refer to the Auto-Targeting feature where you can accidentally pull groups if you're not paying attention/have poor latency?

A Reasonable Request

I have been playing wow since BC, off and on. I really enjoy the hunter class and my favorite spec is beast mastery. As I am sure most hunters realize, BM is currently not a great spec to play in pvp or pve.

I have read the patch notes and I am glad that blizzard is doing some good things for hunters. More so for pvp than pve. However, it isn't going to be enough. The extra 10% AP, 20% damage to kill command and 15% damage to arcane shot are all nice, but there are a few things I believe that need to be done to BM to make it viable.

The mastery on BM needs to be buffed considerably. A BM hunter's pet needs to be doing the most damage out of any of the pet classes, it currently isn't. Also, to fix hunter self heal problems, I suggest increasing the AP coefficient on spirit mend. Focus fire is currently a pretty silly ability. Hunters don't benefit very much from haste, and losing dps to gain dps is a flawed concept in and of itself.

These are just a few of the changes I believe BM needs to be better in both pvp and pve. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions on making BM an actual hunter spec again. Thanks.

PALADINS

Why are their soo many paladins in the hunter forums? It started with Mendia and their seems to be an uprising of them. Not saying ya don't got anything constructive to say just want to see your hunter posting.
I don't know what you're talking about.
Because the Paladins are smart mathematicians, who have descended down to help other Hunters with their mathematic equations that they seem to get wrong.
this is my hunter. there are many more like it, but this one is mine.
I haven't the foggiest what you're on about.
What's this about paladins hanging out in the hunter boards?
You Gots Trolledz
I know not of what you speak.
Make it stop! :(
Paladins? I hate Paladins.
I got beer.
Is there a /hairflip convention in here?

I simply am too lazy to swap toons every time I make a post.
What we've got here is...failure to communicate.
What would a PALADINS thread be without some Robot Unicorns?!?!

http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html

Oooopen your eeeeeyes...
Damn paladins! Ur kind aint wanted on these forums! RABLE RABLE RABLE! xD
You rang?

Can any of you kill a Deathknight 1v1? 2v1?

I know I can't..

I don't know much about the arena scene, but in world pvp or even BG's I don't stand a chance against any DK I've ever come across.

This is how my fights usually go...

1. DK grips me, roots me
2. I use defensive cd to get range and AS/ES spam
3. DK pops magic shield, roots me
4. In desperation I use another defensive cd before I die.

Either I'm a major noob or this is another example of a hard counter. Possibly both.

I'd like to know how other hunters fare against deathknights. Maybe there's another class that you feel you have trouble playing against?
Trap roots + pet roots = win.

Like all melee you should try to have disengage up when they use their gap closer.

In world pvp/BGs anyways.
b4 cata... i was hopeless... now it 2 took allies to kill my one hunter and i almost killed one of them while running around... (fyi... the one i almost killed i killed 2 times b4 this when he was solo...)

if it takes 2 allies to kill your hunter why are you so bad in 2v2 ?

Seriously. You did nothing in pve. You did nothing in pvp. Yet you can do things skilled hunters can't ....

Troll. Log your main and post on hit.
Nobody care if some people can kill inexperienced players.

Everyone can kill bad players wearing pve gear like me.

I can roll face bad hunters with my ret paladin. But good hunters will easily kill me.
yes, around 60-70% of the time.

20-25% of the time i am missing a CD or am BM ( i dont play BM a lot so im a noob at it :p)

10-15% of the time they get a string if lucky crits or i still am snared from the last fight i was in. that or they out skill me.

I get killed by good players all the time. Well, at least I tell myself they were good and that's why I died. It makes me feel better about being bad.
I would suggest when the DK grips you to lay down snake trap, immolation trap, and frost. It is almost guaranteed that he will grip you, so just hold off on your traps 'til he does so. It'll put that DK in a world of hurt when he does; and if you're SRV spec, and speced into Entrapment, he'll be rooted down whilst you Disengage and then start ripping on him (as you laugh heartily as he's being consumed by fire and snakes). I would also suggest to save Deterrence until he pops anti-magic, that way he won't be just beating on you when you can't do anything to him.

Cheers, and good luck! For the Alliance! Oh, and don't bathe with power tools.
-Save Disengage until after they use Death Grip
-Use Master's Call to break out of snares
-Use Steady Shot instead of Cobra when they use Anti-Magic Shell
-Use Freezing Trap or Wyvern Sting and run to max range
-Your pets Roar of Sacrifice helps a lot if they are hitting you

Where did i say i fight DK ???

Axeperson said ...

I just pointed out that Axeperson had few pve and pvp achivement and so was probabbly trolling when he said he was able to kill 2 allies alone. He has a lossing record at under 500 rating in 2v2. It speak of itself imo.

I use glyphed masters call for the first 8 seconds and get my shots in. If you can avoid it , NEVER disengage BEFORE he death grips, always do it AFTER he grips UNLESS you hit deterrence.

Its a bit of an easier fight as a beast master. If I have a chimera pet out at the time I will stay out of range while he chases me and "Kill command kite" or KcK as I like to call it. As a beast master my kill command hurts pretty bad as I have reforged mastery and glyphs for it.

At this point he will do one or two things...get tired of running after me in which case I head back towards him and start shooting and repeate KcK when he pursues.

OR

Out of frustration he will try to stop and fight the pet.

In either scenario make sure if you approach to get back shooting that Disengage is ready.

I also have the glyph and the talent for quicker disengages.

Grahnja - try duelling a decent DK cos you won't find many skilled DK in World PvP or random BG.

No such thing.
Skilled DK's are by no means impossible to beat as a hunter. I'm not saying you will beat them 100% of the time but in World of Casualcraft there's alot of rng factors.

First you should be spec'd MM when fighting a DK, nothing hurts DK's more then silencing shot. If you're a goblin, you want to pop rocket jump/disengage, to get range and when they deathgrip, pop masters call + rocket jump/disengage (whichever u didnt use) to get range again and smash him. Save trinket for ghoul stun, don't be stupid and use pet stun when he has ams up, that's how I usually lose.

Watch his root cd and frost runes as well, you can deterence the last 2-3 seconds and he will try to reapply by instinct and you can use that to lay a frost entrapment and run away without having to worry about being slowed.

I can usually beat DK's in duels, but definitely not all the time
in wrath it was impossible to beat a skilled DK. they can just pop garg, and even if you never once let them hit you with a melee attack they would still kill you with nothing but ranged dmg. sad but true: dks were a better ranged class than hunters.

i dunno about in cata though
similar geared fight. an unholy dk doesn't need to hit you once in melee and will win from their disease dots and dc spams.

Unlink Steady Shot from Piercing Shots DoT

The mobility granted to hunters in 4.0.6 is great and all, but Marks is still lagging behind other hunter specs, namely survival, and after doing some DPS tests, I think I know why.

A 9-10k crit on Steady Shot, will basically overwrite the massive damage on an Aimed or Chimera Shot crit. I know it doesn't actually overwrite the DoT but it mixes them and takes what could have been a 20k DoT, and turns it into a 10K, and then 6k, and so on as you crit with steady far more often, thus overwriting your amazing DoT, with a far worse one.

Please consider taking steady shot off the talent as a shot that can proc the Piercing Shots DoT.

The crit bleeds are/should be added together not overwritten. My testing showed bleed damaged increased after multiple crits. After 8 seconds each bleed ends so it is then subtracted from the bleed damage.

Are you sure there is an issue here?
Piercing shots damage rolls into itself, it doesn't overwrite. If you crit an aimed for 50k you get a 15k over 8 sec piercing shots DoT. If you crit a 10k steady at 4 secs left on that DoT (which has 7.5k damage left on it) you get a new 7.5k + (10*.3) = 10.5k DoT. At least that's how I last knew it to work.

Removing SS from piercing shots would only hurt MM.

MM isn't lagging behind SV. Do some research on Hardcasting Aimed Shot rotations and try again.

Hot fixes?

I was pleasantly surprised to see a hotfix when i logged onto wow tonight.

"Maybe theyll fix Master's call's buggy tool tip and make aimed shot cast at the speed anounced by blizz in the 4.0.6 patch notes." i thought

But instead, they made master's call even worse than it was before by making it dispellable and leaving it at its 45 second CD, and didnt even mention aimed shot. There are a few other little things im sure most hunters are aware of such as losing the ability to double trap that have slipped by unmentioned by blue.

Just wondering blue.. are you at least going to carry out the buffs you promised or will you make aimed shot a 4 second cast time.
They dont give a ##!@. They Play mages. Think its pretty funny how they actually have time to play this game with all the problems it has atm. Id rather spend my money somewhere else then play a broken game.
I hope you know blues don't generally read these forums.
If you feel this is a bug, please post it in the appropriate forums.
A pally's freedom can be dispelled. Ours should be able to as well.

then ours should also be on a 25second CD usable without LOS to pet, or hell without a pet period.

They're different classes with different abilities don't compare them as if they're the same when clearly they aren't.
* Auto Shot was not firing while the hunter was moving under certain conditions. Auto Shot should now always function correctly while the hunter is moving.
* Having a melee weapon equipped no longer causes the tooltips for Cobra Shot and Steady Shot to incorrectly display extra benefit from haste.
* The cooldown for Master's Call has been increased to 45 seconds, up from 35. In addition, it can now be dispelled.
* The Warp Stalker ability Time Warp can no longer be used on paladins with the Divine Shield buff active.

OK just wondering, I am 18.21% haste and my Cobra Shot cast time was around 1.51 (from what I remember) after hot fix, it's back to 1.69.. SERIOUSLY? >_>
I never expected they would do this, I was also expecting the MC cooldown fix to 35 seconds and the AS 2.4 sec promised base cast time.

It's like we dominate at PvP or something.

Instead, we have the worst mechanics for PvP:

- Focus regen: SS/CS + minimum range for skills...
- High damage: Hardcast Aimed Shot which doesn't benefit from Aspect of the Fox...
- Line of Sight: Good luck fighting against smart teams which will use LoS/minimum range to their advantage.

It's like we are a PvE-only class.

PvE MM is not 'overpowered'

Unlike most of these people that base this rash judgement off of hearsay from guildies - the site posted above actually takes time to go through and record the DPS differences of each spec of every class for every fight.

Random retargeting and pets on critters

When I'm spamming an ability (say... Steady Shot) and the current target dies, I automatically target the next closest attackable mob, but it never happens on my alts. Also, my pets tend to randomly attack critters clear across the room without reason, even when they're on passive. Please tell me I'm not the only hunter severely annoyed by these things. It's caused me to unintentionally pull extra groups in heroic dungeons, and sometimes causes wipes. If anyone has tips on fixing this (hopefully without developer intervention), please, PLEASE, let me know.
If a critter gets in combat with you then your pet will go for it. Critters can get in combat from walking on your ice trap, being affected by a tanks demo shout, etc. My pet is always on passive so I don't have this issue. Just macro /petattack into hunters mark or one of your shots and you'll be fine.

As for shooting another target when your current one dies, just stop spamming attacks when somethings about to die.
Yea but they're attacking the critters when on passive. Rarely do I have my pet on any other level of aggression.
Im having the same issue with the auto targeting to the next closest. Tried playing with the interface options, i didnt have this issue with other class's. looking for a fix if possible...
Are you using a bear with Demorilizing Roar on autocast? Or a pet with Thunderstorm?

My bear annoyed the hell out of me when I took him through BFD to the first turtle boss because he would cast DR and it would hit critters clear across the room.
Yes the auto targeting is a royal pain in the ass, it has to do with 3 factors
1 - The new spell que system
2 - The new autoshoot while moving system
3 - Host to server, server to host latency

The new que system is the biggest part of it and frankly hunters should not be forced to use it due to the way our rotations and abilities work and the fact that moving will not stop the shot cast.

If we had someway to cancel all remaining qued shots the system would be so much better or even if it cancled all remaining shots once current target is dead. Eg a que per target system.

Which Helm?

Which helm do you prefer pre-raiding snarling helm Snarling Helm (which I currently have) or Deadly Bio-Optic Killshades Deadly Bio-Optic Killshades?
I don't even have to look at what you have. Killshades.

Why was this a question to you?
I just realized that they are engineering only so I'm stuck with what I have.

Not only are the Killshades sexy, but outside of heroic raiding, aren't they BiS?

Official: Double Trapping is Gone

Taken from Post #64 in the Double Freezing Trap thread in the bug forum:

I found this myself yesterday, after testing it several times. I was frankly annoyed, so I submitted a ticket.

It was actually answered today, and the GM said that in the Advanced Combat Log, it does say that only one (Per Hunter) can be active at any given time, and that it was not a bug- but truly intentional.

I didn't ask why (as a GM is just a messenger, not a Developer), but it seems that it is supposed to be this way now.

....I was stupid, and did not take a Screenshot, but the GM assured me that it IS intentional.

.....let's hope the Devs change their minds.

So after careful aims ends (boss<80%)

do we apply serp sting then .......

1) steady, steady, aimed, steady, steady, chimera repeat from 1......

or

2) steady, steady, aimed, steady, steady, aimed, steady, steady, chimera repeat from 2?

I actually did fairly well yesterday during my first random heroic run by not even touching chimera and serp sting, and constantly do steady, steady, aimed then kill shot when available, and did decent damage. I am reading that this is ok, but not nearly enough as the above 1) or 2) aftter boss is less than 80%.

What is the best way to maximize?

I've heard conflicting reports on whether or not to use Chimera on cooldown or only to refresh Serpent Sting when it's about to fall off. Would love to find out the answer myself.
For me, I have been doing the steady steady aimed until Serpent is ready to fall off then I chimera. When Rapid Fire and Berserk are fired off I can steady steady aimed aimed until Serpent is ready to fall off then I chimera

Hydras?

Will hunters ever get to have Hydras to tame? I know there use to be one from the Oracles daily, but I joined after they hot fixed it. They are considered crocks so why not let us have them? =/
Reckon they are saving it for a future xpac probably.
I hope that's the case... Cause as a Hunter we should be allowed to tame anything labled as a beast, and since Hydras at one point USE to be tameable, they should make it fair so that everyone can have one. I'm not saying the spirit ones, just any of the others. Make the spirit ones undead and then it would be fair. At least that's how I see it.
Lol, I guess so. xDDD
Lucky for me I taimed the ghost hydra and slime before the fix . They are tanks .... Slime tank ..Ok...But any how I use a cat most the time for DPS in groups But Hydras are nice when your soloing.
Waiting for basilisks myself. They do count as beasts...
I thought you always could tame hydras? I never tamed one myself because they are just too bulky IMO. Basillisks have been brought up numerous times in the past forums but yet blizzard hasn't done anything yet. I am kind of glad that you can't tame everything you see with 4 legs. Keep some things just to the world itself. We have a plethora of pets we can tame through out the game so it's not like we are lacking in the pet dept.
We should be allowed to tame anything LABELED as a BEAST. Hydras aren't bulky, you do realize there are the Core Hounds who ARE quite big as well. Same with Devilsaurs. Hydras are awesome and we SHOULD be allowed to tame them. Whether it be in another patch or in the next expansion. As hunters we should be given some more leeway due to the fact that Blizz continues to nerf us as much as they can. Most other classes got buffed, I do know and understand that others got nerfed as well. BUT! They haven't been getting nerfed for as long as us nor as hard. So I ask you, those who are proud to be hunters, do you or do you not agree with me on this? There are some things I do understand that shouldn't be tameable, but if it is labeled as a BEAST we should be able to tame them.
Well from what it "looks" like we WILL get hydras come patch 4.1 I've been hearing about it from those who are in the PTR and found out they now have their own abilities and own family. My source: http://www.wow-petopia.com/family/hydra.html

Lets hope that those who where able to "tame" a hydra in the PTR weren't just finding out a glitch and that we DO get them come next patch.
I was terribly confused why all these guys had no idea about 4.1... then i realized this thread is more than 2 months old.

/thread
Yeah, I was just updating it. I probably shoulda made a new thread for this new info then... Right?
Rumors of hydras abound on the PTR, petopia, and wow forums. Just curious, what would other people like to see from hydras?

1 - You have 3 Exotic Ferocity, 3 Exotic Tenacity and 2 Exotic Cunning pets, so if it is Exotic, it would be a good fit as Cunning, but if you consider that one of the Ferocity families is entirely rarespawned, Ferocity wouldn't be a poor choice either

2 - Again, assuming Exotic, the most thematically pleasing (IMO) form of their Exotic special would be an multi-attack of some sort. We already have a 360 degree effect, a frontal cone and simple multi-hitting would push them to be a "best" DPS pet, even as cunning, so a cleave effect would be different. A 3 target cleave would ideally fit a hydra, and if Ferocity, it would give (BM) hunters an AOE choice from each Pet type

3 - Even if not Exotic, most raid buffs are covered, and Ferocity could stand to have a few more "PVP" type effects. There is only one Disorient effect out there (monkey poo) and what could be more disorientating then being pummeled from 3 directions at once?

So
Hyda
Family: Ferocity
Base Ability: Disorient
Exotic Ability (If Exotic): 3-person cleave, shared timer with Basic Attack, same Focus cost, ~60-80% less damage per target compare to Basic Attack (making it a poor choice for normal use, but good for AOE periods, especially since it could be impacted by Longevity)
Diet: Gnomes, Blood Elf DKs, and Lv 1 Forum Alt posters
I've spent the past two days researching this and personally I hope they won't be exotic. I just got rid of my BM spec temporarily for my bg/arena spec, which is Surv. I have my PvE Surv spec and now my PvP Surv spec. If they are exotic then I guess I gotta wait till the end of the season then. Lol. And as for their diet... I luled at the gnome part, seeing as I hate gnomes with a burning passion. Lol. But I'm just in hopes that they aren't exotic. A hydra would look ba next to my wolf with the sword stabbed into his head, oil slicked wolf, oil slicked bird, consumed bear, flaming pig, and my ghost bird with the blue aura. Yes, I had fun taming those. Got them before the taming methods were made illegal. Rofl. Sad thing is I cannot use them in anything PvP rated or else they lose their cosmetic buffs...

But we shall all wait and see, right? Let's see what Blizz does to us hunters now. Will they stick it to non BM hunters again? Or will any hunter be able to tame one? We shall soon see when more is released on the matter.

question on "travel time" for scatter shot

doing alot of bg's today and trying to stop a cast with scatter seemed kinda iffy... Especially cc...

I was playing at about 20 latency and i swear i was cc'ed while the caster was scattered or silenced a couple of times... Has blizz ever commented on travel time or is this just something we should assume is happening..
mmm 20 latency would be nice, I play with 350. This kind of thing happens with me all the time, but I think scatter does have some travel time too.

Considering it

Human Race change. Good idea for me? or a no-no.

Ice trap and Lock and Load

Has anyone else experienced their Ice trap flat out not triggering Lock and Load almost every time? Frost trop usually works, but not ice trap.

And does anyone who played the ptr know if they fixed it?
ice trap is not a 100% trigger, why i wouldnt know but thats how it is. if its a bug i hope they fix it soon..... oh wait, sv is dead anyways so whatever
Tooltip says Ice Trap is a 100% trigger; there might be a bug that keeps it at 50%. Otherwise, it might be the 22s ICD of LNL.
What I really want them to look into is explosive shot dot randomly not adding properly.
I swear that a BA LNL conflicts with a Trap LNL... I have had a trap freeze a target and not proc a LNL once, but it came after I got a LNL proc from BA. But then again I have had back to back before.. I think there is some kind of bug that prevents one, but I have not been able to re-create it yet =/ Only happened one time to me.
I get lock and load procs from all my traps, especially if it's a trap I fire off the bat (before using BA). There is supposed to be an internal cooldown and that is probably what you are noticing.

even when off the ic ice trap fails to proc lnl.
Im not specced into Black arrow and i pvp. My traps are 22 seconds i think and they dont trigger LNL sometimes.
Too bad we're not mages, this would have been fixed long ago.
Did you recently LnL? There is an internal cooldown for those procs.

Arcane Shot and dispel: just about every class has a dispel ability associated with it to remove special effects or buffs from the enemy when fighting. There should be a glyph or talent point choice in one of the three trees to allow the hunter to get this ability. The hunter should be able to dispel the enemies buffs via this shot otherwise why have hunter shots that do anything other then nature damage in the first place. If you are going to give the hunters a shot that does magic damage shouldn't it affect magic?

Stances: I read recently that another game which will remain unnamed, had stances for the hunter much like aspects, but more specifically these stances enhanced the melee abilities of the hunter. We have one that does AP for ranged which is fine but i noticed that when in the aspect my focus regen is hardly enough to keep up with the dps. Why not combine fox and hawk abilities and make a second aspect to either 1: allow us to shoot close range because ive noticed that certain bosses are usually only hittable in melee due to effects we are supposed to be dodging, 2: enhance our melee abilities so that we can raptor strike faster and use two other melee abilities that you could add and maybe even allow only the kill shots to be done up close while in this aspect. Make it so that ranged attack power transfers to melee while in this aspect . I'm only saying this not to mess up pvp as i don't pvp, i'm asking this on behalf of hunters everywhere who have been stuck in an awkward position while fighting a boss or anything for that matter and can do nothing because of the close range spot where we cannot used ranged attacks. OR shrink these bosses hitboxes because they are causing hunters to be too close even tho we are not, the bosses boxes are too big due to the size of the bosses.

Trap launcher redo: trap launcher was a great idea however it has serious flaws. There is a HUGE delay between launcher and clicking the trap. The fix? add launcher trapshots. These would cause the cooldown of the trap types involved but they would be an instant shot at the feet of the target. They would behave as the traps do but there would not need to be two GCD's to do one thing. there would be two sets of trap abilities, ones for the feet of the hunter and one that is a shot that shoots at the feet of the target. please read the trap redo suggestions above.

Question about PVP

Just want to know witch spec u guys personally find better for PVP and why and witch pets u normally uses?

Im focused on PVE and i dont know much about PVP so im just looking for some info about how hunters usually go on PVP..
Alot of people perfer marks, although i find Beast mastery much funner and "better"
Just choose what you like most or play better, I just can't do anything as marks on arenas, and I find BM pretty boring, but for me, SV and BM works best.
I prefer MM myself, just depends on your playstyle really, you'll find alot of hunters vary in opinions.

For MM I usually choose a spider/crab for the roots, but it helps to have a wide range of utility for pets. Like currently I have spider/moth/scorp/monkey/crab, spider is used all-round but moth is better for casters, scorp to disarm, so on and so forth.

Also get used to playing defensive until you get a feel for when to burst, most of your time will be spent kiting unless your in a BG. Mostly you have to wait for the classes to use their gap closers before you use your openers, ergo wait for deathgrip/shadowstep/charge before you disengage/scattershot.

Its really a fun and enjoyable class because you are always doing something, and hunters take more work then some classes to do well
MM does seem to be the preferred spec due to Aimed Shot hitting like a truck and the ability to reset your CD's with readiness. As for Pets, like Thelzar stated, there are many varieties and most common is the Spider for the 5 second root. I find myself switching out accordingly to the comp we go up against. For the most part, I usually just use my Sporebat (Dusts nearby enemies with spores, reducing all enemy targets within 6 yards of casting speed by 25% for 10 seconds.) The CD is 8 seconds.

With playing a Hunter in Arenas you really need to be on your toes and have your partners peel off you when needed. If not, you will be the first to go. Hunters are usually targeted first in 3v3 battles.
I used to play SV in PvP. Through SV I learned kiting and surviving and also learned which classes stomped me and by what means. I recently switched to MM. I prefer MM for PvP

Why? (these are my opinions)

First off, look at the talents for SV. One dispell of your dots and you basically lose the use of half your talents. Over time you will start to see that you wished you had more damage.
*SV Cons*
Resourcefulness...with resisted traps and other things, the lose of those trap cooldown is not really that noticable
Toxicology.....dispell....
Wyvern Sting.....dispell.....
Noxious Stings.....dispell and you lose the 10% bonus
Serpent Spread...cool...but you do not multishot that much, much less one after the other
Black Arrow.....again, dispell....and if you use Black Arrow, you can not use fire traps.

*MM Pros*
Aimed Shot....I have hits for over 40k
Rapid Fire...speed up your Aimed shot
Camo + Careful Aim....boost your Aimed Shot crit
Casters??? Silencing Shot
Resistance is Futile....even one point and you will have this proc, then your KC refunds focus
Master Marksmen stacks......free focus, instant aimed shot (40k crits :) )
Readiness....reset your stuff
Chimera Shot.....weee....a heal....at least 5k every cooldown.
